MISS LIBERIA USA PAGAENT SET FOR JULY 22ND IN PHILADELPHIA
As Liberians around the USA gear up for celebration of the country’s 164th Independence Anniversary, the annual prestigious Miss Liberia in the USA Beauty organized and hosted by the Liberian United Women In Progress(LUWP) is set for Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Hilton Hotel near the Philadelphia Airport.
Developed by the Liberian United Women in Progress (L.U.W.I.P.), a non-profit, non political community based resource group headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, The Miss Liberia in the U.S. Scholarship Pageant was born out of the need to create a forum for young women of Liberian decent here in the United States to embrace and promote their culture, express their talent, beauty, and accomplishments. The Miss Liberia in the U.S. Scholarship Pageant first took center stage in July of the year 2001, and has remained an annual tradition and the main attraction of our independence celebration in Philadelphia, PA. The pageant, now in its 11th year, is attracting corporate sponsorship from all across the United States.
Ms Mahja Zeon of Marietta GA, the current Ms Liberia in the USA will be ending her reign and turning over her crown to the new winner on Friday at the paegent.
Ms Zeon, an alumnus of Valdosta State University, in 2005 earned a Bachelors degree in the area of Political Science and Business Administration/Economics. The current Ms Liberia USA is currently pursuing her Paralegal Certification at Emory University with a goal to represent immigrants like herself, as an Immigration Attorney at Law.
Majha is the eldest daughter of Mr. David Zeon and Ms. Oretha Logan Zeon of Marietta, Georgia, USA.
